Lady Sting's First Loss of the Season :(
Worry, fear, anxiety, heartache.
Today was the first loss of the season... but that's not what caused all the emotions listed above. Right before the official start of the game, our pitcher, Claire Bergerson (12th grade), and our catcher, Amanda Eng (10th grade) were warming up for their respective roles. Unfortunately, during this process, the ball hit the edge of Amanda's closed glove, bouncing into her face. The injury seemed serious, and her mother soon came to take her to the emergency room. With our minds and hearts with Amanda, and a rearrangement of our usual positions, we were unable to pull through and take the win. Later today, we found out that she actually fractured her eye socket, and will be unable to play for the rest of the season.
This event is definitely going to be a setback for this season, as Amanda was a vital player on our team. Now, we have to reevaluate how we want to approach this year, but I hold hope that we will be able to figure something out, as the tight-knit team that we are.
